In the world of digital marketing, content is king.  So in order to make your digital marketing strategy effective, it only makes sense to keep creating content that is fresh, informative, and relevant to keep your audience engaged and help build your brand.

Yet, creating content day in and day out can be challenging and, quite honestly, a bit stressful, especially for business owners who already have a lot on their plate.

Repurposing content is one way to lessen your content creation load and take some of that stress off.  And, if done right, you don’t have to spend too much time and money creating content to strengthen your online presence.

Here are some tips on how to do content repurposing right in 2022:

Produce content with repurposing in mind

When creating content, determine which one performed well in the past and which one will remain relevant and useful to your audience months or even years after you publish it.  Think of long-form content like blog posts, whitepapers, or podcasts that can be clipped and turned into short videos that can be uploaded to social media.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket

For almost 7 hours on October 4th, 2021, Facebook and its subsidiaries, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. became unavailable worldwide.  Imagine the impact of this outage on your business if these were the only channels that your marketing strategy depended upon.

Just like with investments where you’re supposed to diversify, the same goes for your content. You need to push your content to as many places as possible, in case another unfortunate event happens in the future.

Get on TikTok

Speaking of putting content on different social media platforms, you should consider TikTok.  TikTok is now one of the most popular social media platforms, having 1 billion monthly active users as of September 2021.

It is a perfect avenue to showcase your short-form video content to reach out to and engage with a large audience. There are several ways to promote your business through this platform such as creating fun and engaging videos, starting a hashtag challenge to encourage your audience to help promote your product or service, doing collaborations with TikTok influencers, and trying out TikTok ads.

Consider doing “How-to” guides

As the world recovers from the pandemic, more people feel the freedom to try new things. Some people have shifted their careers, some have moved places, and some are considering going into new business ventures. This presents a huge opportunity to put how-to guides out there and showcase your expertise and provide value to your audience.

Take baby steps

For anyone who is new at this, repurposing content may seem overwhelming.  Remember, no one becomes an expert at this after their first try.  Think of it as forming a new habit.  Take small steps at a time until you become comfortable, then move on to the more complicated stuff as you level up.

Start by using a format that you’re already familiar with, like taking quotes from a blog post then eventually move up from creating long-form videos and taking snippets out from them.

Consistency is the Key

One of the main goals of repurposing content is to provide consistent messaging to help grow your brand, build trust, and enhance your reputation.  As a business owner, you need to be clear on what your message is, or what the problem is that you’re trying to solve for your customers.  This way, whenever people encounter that problem, your name comes on top of the list.
